This intensive 5-day Basic Gas Welding Course provides essential hands-on training in copper tubing preparation and gas welding techniques used in refrigeration and HVAC applications. Designed for beginners or those looking to build practical confidence, the course covers everything from tool selection to pressure testing and correct flame application.
Learners will gain in-depth knowledge of soft and hard drawn copper tubing, cutting, flaring, swagging, bending, and the use of couplings and Ref-net joints. The course introduces all key components of a gas welding setup, including bottles, regulators, hoses, and nozzles, along with the correct handling and application of dry nitrogen and vacuum pumps for leak testing.
A strong focus is placed on practical skills. Students will complete guided exercises in tubing prep and welding, including welding Ref-net joints using dry nitrogen and a flow meter. The course concludes with a practical test and in-house certification.
Whether you’re entering the trade or strengthening your technical foundation, this course equips you with the core welding skills needed in the field.
