Aircon Maintenance & Repair

This intensive 5-day course is designed to equip learners with the practical skills needed to diagnose, service, and repair split-unit air conditioning systems. Ideal for entry-level technicians or those looking to expand their HVAC skill set, the course covers both theoretical knowledge and hands-on application.

You’ll learn how to identify common faults, perform maintenance tasks, clean and recharge systems, and ensure optimal performance. Additional topics include basic electrical troubleshooting, component testing, and safe handling of refrigerants.

By the end of the course, participants will be confident in servicing residential and small commercial aircon units — ready to deliver efficient, reliable maintenance and repairs on-site.

Course Content

Introduction.
Types of air cons and air flows.
Basic Component’s, Operation and Functions.
Basic Refrigeration Heat Pump Cycle.
Refrigerant behavior in Cycle, Heat transfer and Air flows.
R410a and alternative placement Refrigerants and Oils.
PPE, Tools and Port a Pack wielding. (Practical component included)
Vacuum pump and WHY? (Practical Component included)
Copper pipe Flaring, Swaging and brazing. (Practical Component included)
Recovery, calculate amount of gas a cylinder can hold. (PC)
Basic Multi meter VAC, Resistance Ohms, Amps and Insulation resistance test of windings by using a Insulation resistance tester. (Megger) (PC)
Electrical control, PC Boards Components and how to test them. (PC)
What can go wrong.
How to flash a system using Dry Nitrogen, Flush tank and Flashing agent. (PC)
Basic Fault finding Protocol, change compressor, reverse valve, using of dry Nitrogen Pressure Test. How to test and change fan motors. (PC)
Charging the correct amount of Refrigerant by weight.
Services and why is it important.
Basic Installations and piping.
Basic introduction to Inverter Air con.
Assessments Home work and Final Theoretical test for your POE.
In house Certificate and printed text book on completion of Course.
